New sysmocom webshop goes live
sysmocom is happy to announce that the new sysmocom webshop has gone live today.
A major re-launch of our ancient "web 1.0" was long past due anyway, but the specific reason for this re-launch was the change of shipping methods that was forced upon us by Deutsche Post, the German postal company.
During the past decade, we always could offer exceptionally good shipping rates for our mostly very small/lightweight products to our global customer base. This was possible by shipping the products as registered mail. The disadvantage was very long delivery times, particularly for our (majority of) intercontinental customers.
However, from today (July 1, 2022), Deutsche Post and its subsidiary DHL discontinued the related shipping options. They are now only offering unregistered (no proof of delivery) postal shipments, and with no liability for loss and damage anywhere near our product value.
As a result, we had the choice between the rather expensive postal package (which is also relatively slow) and the industry-standard express shipment providers. We decided to go for UPS, which has been the preferred shipping partner for our enterprise (non-webshop) product shipments for a long time.
The new webshop now offers UPS Express Saver, and depending on the destination possibly the more economic UPS Standard and/or UPS Expedited options.
In terms of payment methods, the new webshop now adds Stripe as a payment provider next to Paypal. This enables direct payment via credit cards, as well as a number of country-specific payment options like SEPA Direct Debit and giropay (Germany), P24 (Poland), EPS (Austria), SOFORT (Belgium, Germany, France, UK, Italy, Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Switzerland, Spain, Czech).
